Borja Garcia's Llar Fireplace Collection is Deceptively Simple

The Llar Fireplace Collection is so minimalist that it wouldn't be surprising if a person did not realize its true purpose from the get-go. With a strange resemblance to Polaroid pictures, each hearth in the collection takes on either a square or rectangular frame that is slightly thicker on the bottom with a gaping negative space in the middle.

Created by Valencia-based industrial designer Borja GarcĂa in collaboration with Marian Sanchez-Aedo for Spanish manufacturer Gandia Blasco, the Llar Fireplace Collection is made out of lacquered steel. It is comprised of various shapes, sizes and colors. According to Garcia, "We wanted to work on a product that would transfer concepts more akin to inside a house, like siting round the fire, to the outdoor space and Llar is a response to this idea."
