I had heard about the international SHI Symbol that helps singles easily work out who is or isn’t single.

I have a heterosexual symbol and by wearing it, I get noticed—in a good way—so it certainly helps make it easier to start a conversation with someone once you know the other person is single. As Kimberly Dawn Neumann, the famous author and Broadway star, says about the SHI Symbol, “it takes the guesswork out of the equation”.

My gay friend in San Francisco loved my symbol so much, he tracked them down and found out they now had Gay and Lesbian Singles symbols too. So, of course, he had to have this wonderful ‘tool’ to help us Singles, of all sexual persuasions, meet our match.

I thought they were only available through the Australian website, but now they are here in the US at http://www.shisymbol.com. They are something that can be used anywhere in the world as they’re based on the Mars/Venus gender symbols everyone knows already.

I’ve also found a blog for them. The SHI Symbol blog often has concert tickets to give away and now they’re even on Facebook, so they must be expanding in every direction.

At best I will find the love of my life with my new found confidence in wearing my SHI Symbol, and at worst, I have a great piece of jewelry. It can work for me, and I’m heterosexual and it always seems that the Gay and Lesbian community pickup the latest trends and fashion news way before us - so I bet once they know about it, the SHI Symbols for Gays and Lesbians will be spread like wildfire.

Enjoy - I am!

These symbols are just the traditional symbols of sex. They don't scream "I'm single" just sexual orientation. It looks neat though, I like the pendant in gold. Now if all chicks would know that this means that I'm single, fine. I'm afraid not. Nice gimmick.

I saw it in London... first time. I knew what it meant and felt comfortable to say my hello, as i am from Oz...but not many people do know yet as it is only new and launched first in Oz, it is so much fun when you do see someone even though not many are in the know... yet. But it doesn't stop me telling people all about it... it is so cool to see who is single with out guessing espeicially in your everyday life... I've got one - but now it is in the draw as I am seeing someone now... Cheers C

Hey ElGrego and Rocketranger - it does work for me. If you're serious about trying to meet other like minded people why not give it a go. It's not expensive and what have you got to lose? Go to match.com and spend up for a month and see if you get to meet as many people. I bet you don't. This thing works for me whenever and wherever I am, not just when I'm online. If you're too stingy to buy one, then log on to the shi symbol website and they are actually giving one away free this month. You know what it must be spreading and more and more know about it, a friend told me it got to the Dating Guru blog too.

I can think of nothing worse - why don't just brand us with irons, or more on trend is scarification. I mean if you wear one that says single you might as well tattoo "I'm easy and up for a ****" on your forehead. New avatar coming soon!!!
