Razer's New Core X V2 Features Full Thunderbolt 5 Support
Colin Smith — July 16, 2025 — Tech
The Razer Core X V2 is an external graphics enclosure designed to augment laptop and handheld performance through a single Thunderbolt 5 connection. It accommodates full-sized PCIe desktop graphics cards up to four slots wide and standard ATX power supplies, enabling users to install the latest NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon GPUs. The enclosure features a vented steel chassis with a built-in 120 mm fan that dynamically adjusts its speed under load, and tool-free thumbscrews simplify the installation and removal of both the GPU and power supply.
Connectivity is provided via an included Thunderbolt 5 cable, offering up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth to ensure low-latency performance with compatible Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, and USB 4 host devices. The Core X V2 does not include a GPU or power supply, but it delivers up to 140 W of power to the connected host device while supporting the GPU and enclosure itself. Razer has announced that the Core X V2 will retail for approximately USD 350 upon release, positioning it as a mid-range option within the external GPU market.
