The Kyoto sandal is receiving its first exclusive edition through BIOTOP, with a release scheduled for June 27, 2026. The Kyoto sandal was originally introduced by Birkenstock in 2020 and is based on the Zurich silhouette, featuring an upper inspired by the folded collar of a kimono. BIOTOP's version retains the original design while updating several materials throughout the construction. The collaboration is offered in a single all-black colorway and uses Birkenstock’s FULL EXQUISITE specification.
The sandal replaces the standard suede lining with natural leather and fully wraps the exposed cork edges of the footbed in leather. Suede upper panels are paired with high-shine leather straps, creating contrast through texture rather than color. A natural leather insole sits above the footbed, while a rubber outsole completes the design.
