The Anti-Date Rape Straw Helps to Prevent Sexual Assualts

— September 5, 2012 — Lifestyle
The Anti-Date Rape Straw ensures that women of all ages at clubs can dance the night away while feeling safe. This ingenious design is still in development, but it is a step in the right direction to help end date rape-related incidents.

The Anti-Date Rape Straw is developed by DrinkSavvy, a company founded by Mike Abramson which strives to create products that help prevent customers from drug-related sexual assault. Abramson hopes to make his products commonplace in the upcoming years, as he himself was a victim of being drugged at a party.

The straw is designed to indicate whether or not a drug has been added to your drink. The straw is reusable and can sense the two most commonly used date-rape drugs: ketamine and gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).

DrinkSavvy also plans to create a series of anti-date rape plastic cups and glasses.
