Athletes competing in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games can look forward to wearing one of these uniquely designed Olympic medals around their neck. The Vancouver Organizing Committee revealed the new designs today which, for the first time in Olympic history, are not flat.

Each of the medals are also unusually heavy, weighing in at 500-576 grams or the equivalent of 71 loonies. Internationally renowned Canadian industrial designer and Vancouver resident Omer Arbel fashioned the warped medal design. Each medal features breathtaking landscape-inspired contemporary Aboriginal artwork.
