Thirst by Gavin Worth is a series of sculptures depicting the concept set out by the title. Commissioned by the town of Matha, France, to symbolize the importance of water in life, the imagery created is both simple and powerful. Like sketches, the wire used to create each art piece provides thin lines that nevertheless portray an abundance of emotion. The sculptures revolve around a young boy and old man cupping water to their mouths.
Joining other artworks based around different themes, Thirst by Gavin Worth is part of a burgeoning sculpture garden in the area. Worth writes, "I came up with the concept of the two planes of images to try to get viewers to walk around the sculpture and really have an experience looking at it from all different sides."
