Plastered Appendage Installations

'Street Hands' Adorn Barcelona with Disembodied Beggars

The Street Hands art project appears to take some notes from 'The Addams Family.' As though modeled after Thing T. Thing, the disembodied hand from the classic television series, it introduces the city of Barcelona to similar bodiless appendages. But instead of proving as helpful a servant as in the series, these Street Hands are looking for some hand-outs.

Created by Octavi Serra, Mateu Targa, Daniel Llugany and Pau Garcia, the Street Hands project not only adds playful public sightings for visitors and locals alike, it pokes fun at the political climate and economic troubles in Spain. Ready to beg, borrow and steal at every turn, the Street Hands sculptures will put a smile on people's face instantly while provoking more serious thoughts down the line.
