Although we have all seen warped porcelain plates before (from melted dishware to smashed and peeled ones), Maxime Ansiau puts a new spin on it with her conjoined porcelain plates. Taking the traditional look (blue and white with scenic illustrations depicted on it), she melds multiple plates to extend those fascinating scenes.
As part of a recent mixed media exhibition Found Footage, Maxime Ansiau’s porcelaine plates were on display earlier this year at the Galerie Iris Cornelis in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I’m sure her work stole the show.
Considering that Maxime Ansiau has somehow managed to show very large buildings as well as other stretched scenery on her plates, how could one not be intrigued by her work?
