The Leica M Monochrom Shoots Only Black and White Images

Leica M Monochrom is a 35 mm format digital camera that exclusively shoots its subject matter in black and white.

This 18-megapixel rangefinder is the first digital device of its kind that has been constructed without the inclusion of a color filter array (CFA). Essentially, the lack of this component renders the camera colorblind and allows fans of vintage style photography to take crisp, color-free snapshots without any image-editing software required.

There have been other models that have attempted to create a similar photo device in the past, but Leica's edition is the only one in its class to include a full-frame black and white sensor and an ISO range of 320 to 10000. This means that the device shoots with extreme clarity and sharpness despite the lack of pigment present in its captures.
