Hydramax Port Machines Gather Renewable Waterfront Resources

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) May 29, 12

The Hydramax Port Machines project proposes a zoning plan that many international cities have disappointingly adopted; however, this waterfront cluster of buildings will not behave like most power stations. Indeed, the presence of the gargantuan skeletal structures is meant to reap the benefits of harvesting fog and rainwater, and by the looks and location of it, it should feature solar panels and wind turbines as well.

Jason Kelly Johnson and Nataly Gattegno of Future Cities Lab suggest a manipulation of the existing concrete boardwalks of San Francisco in favor of soft, green landscaped infrastructure. The spacious and spiky Hydramax Port Machines would be surrounded by wildlife refuges, aquaponic farms, aquatic parks and community gardens throughout this lush perimeter.
