The Costavolcano Headphones are Made of Old Headphone Parts

With his Costavolcano headphones, Chilean designer Francisco Jara Gomex proves that almost anything can be recycled. In fact, this green-conscious craftsman has created headphones that are made completely from old recycled headphone parts.

The headphones, resembling stylish, spiraling headbands, are actually crafted of a blend of old headphones and sustainable materials, including organic alpaca fiber, which requires only solar wind and energy to produce. Other materials include recycled copper and silver, which are also easily reused or recycled. What’s more, the packaging and labels for the Costavolcano headphones are made of recycled materials as well.

Although the price of the Costavolcano headphones is unknown, these green accessories are giving female workers in Chile more economic opportunity. According to ChipChick.com, female heads of households in Chile who make products like these are paid, on average, about 70 percent above Chile’s minimum wage.
