Fish-Texting Projects

Amphibious Architecture Engages Citizens on the Health of the Environment

The Amphibious Architecture project aims to engage citizens of New York City to have a better understanding of the issues concerning the environment. A series of sensors were placed into the East River and the Bronx River to monitor the ecosystem. The sensors allow inhabitants of New York City to receive real-time information about either of the rivers. Additionally, the sensors allow for communication between fish and human life.

The Amphibious Architecture project is really ingenious because of how in gives citizens the ability to get text messages about fish and up-to-date information about the river. This kind of information system hopes to encourage curiosity in the rivers. The Amphibious Architecture project was developed and created by the Living Architecture Lab at Colombia University.

Implications - Consumers are captivated by projects that engage with the natural world in innovative and remarkable ways. This stems from the values of the eco-movement informing consumers of many different demographics. Companies should take this into consideration when creating a marketing campaign.
