The move gets McDonald's into the dying industry of DVD rentals, but perhaps if you are going to be in that industry, then kiosks and vending machines are the way to go. Of course, if McDonald's locations all had DVDs, there would be little need to make an extra trip to Blockbuster.

Implications - McDonald’s is working with a "leader in automated DVD rental services" called Redbox. The movie-rental machines will be found throughout the USA and will cost customers as little as one dollar per night. The idea will serve a two-year testing point. Redbox will offer the latest selection of movies with prices that can't be beat.
