Bizarre Eco-Friendly Buildings

The Glass House Reuses Embalming Fluid Bottles

Before the emphasis on sustainable architecture made it fashionable to use odd materials to build homes, people did it just to be different. Like the Glass House, for example, which is made from 500,000 embalming fluid bottles.

David Brown retired after 35 years of removing blood from dead bodies and replacing it with the proper burial fluid. He built his house on a whim and with the help of bottles donated by friends in the biz. The Glass House is a physical reminder to recycle--it represents 250 tons of glass that stayed out of the landfills.
