They also have a "Best of Show" category which can be any kind of robot doing anything. Robots from various countries participate in this event and there are, as in the human Olympics, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal categories.
Implications - Believe it or not, the RoboGames are the world's biggest open robot competition, as anointed by the Guinness Book of World Records. Some of the robots are autonomous, but many are propelled by humans through remote controls.
