In a theatrical play on volume, Viktor & Rolf launched a full-on assault of their own fairytale designs. The designers created gowns fit for a princess in layer upon layer of pastel tulle, then sheared off edges, looking as if they swung a machete in the absence of scissors. It was an impressive manipulation of a fragile fabrication, and nothing short of a runway art exhibit.
I wondered if the models just stepped out of the queen’s court of 'Alice in Wonderland,' with the phrase, “Off with their heads!” still ringing in their ears. In any case, I’m sure this Viktor & Rolf Spring 2010 collection got Lady Gaga’s attention.
