Robotic Ethics Charter

In Isaac Asimov's short story 'Runaround' (1942), three Laws of Robotics were suggested to govern human/robot relations. Today, in 2007, these fictitious laws may soon impact our lives, as a group of five experts finalize a Charter of Robotic Ethics, to be released later this year.

With the social, econonic and ethical implications of introducing a new form of intelligent 'life' to our world, ground rules for the future must be established.

Implications - With the rise of robots in various industries and in homes, it seems only natural that South Korea, a nation with the highest use of robots, implement an ethics code to prevent the abuse of these machines by humans and vice versa. The charter, released on 2007, is being assembled by a small 5 member team of "experts" and will cover standards for both users and producers.
