Sweeping Pillared Structures

The Choreographic Center Features Row Upon Row of Slim Columns

The Choreographic Center, located in Georgia, is an impressive structural design proposed by architects Shin Takamatsu Architect & Associates.

The dance center will be built in honor of the legendary and internationally renowned ballerina Nina Ananiashvili and will celebrate her accomplishments as well as serve as a training ground for young aspiring ballerinas.

Two structures comprise the Choreographic Center. One is called 'Corps' and the other 'Amplitude.' The Corps building features an immense roof anchored by 2,000 slim wooden columns; it is meant to represent the Corps de Ballet -- a group of ballerinas that doesn't include the principal dancer. The other building, Amplitude, is similar to Corps but features a more significant curve in structure. The way the roof of Amplitude undulates is meant to represent the "amplitude" of Ananiashvili's own body when she dances.

The Choreographic Center will include a ballet hall with a 600-seat capacity, a dance training facility, a studio and residences.
