Woodoo Uses Wood in Place of Glass, Leather and More

Paris-based biotechnology startup Woodoo is in the business of transforming materials and preconceived notions about design to prioritize a sustainable ethos. The company creates wood-based material that is capable of being used in place of glass, leather, concrete and even steel to prioritize a luxe yet sustainable alternative. The material is achieved by submerging wood in a range of liquids to detach and extract lignin, which is then used create a range of different materials.

Woodoo has signed an array of deals with brands like Volkswagen, Mercedes, LVMH and Garnica to use its sustainable materials in many different ways. The materials could help to shift away from animal-sourced materials and others with a higher carbon footprint.
