Sam Crawford Architects Creates a Red-Roof Pavilion in Sydney

Local design studio Sam Crawford Architects creates a new angular roof that is finished in clear red-mesh paneling over a pavilion. The structure takes on a Y-shape and it is located in Sydney on the lawn of a bowls club. The structure is clad with timber and is meant to be a versatile community center that exists harmoniously with the surrounding park.

Founder of the studio Sam Crawford notes, "The building is experienced in the round, with a playful and inviting form, drawing people towards and around it. We wanted to create a building with a siting and form that promoted different pockets of space for different community use, as well as defining various park entry points and promoting park-user safety."
