Renowned photographer and storyteller Giles Duley shares his journey from celebrity photoshoots to telling powerful unheard stories in this photography keynote. Duley points out the importance of stories, stating that by listening to others, there is the possibility that people can have a better understanding of the world.
By changing the course of his career, Duley realized that the people he was working with during his time as a care worker had stories that needed to be told. Through the camera lens, Duly could capture the hardships around the world.
Travelling to Sudan, Angola and Ukraine among other places, Duley realized the importance of recording these stories. After stepping on a landmine in Afghanistan, Duley became the story, showing the possibilities through his self portraits.
