Sotheby's is Using a Virtual Reality Art Experience to Drive Sales

Those who visit the Surrealist Art Evening sale exhibition through Sotheby's will now be able to step inside the frames of their favorite artworks thanks to a new virtual reality art experience.

VR tech is now being used as a tool to drive sales of surrealist artworks by renowned artists like Dalí and Magritte. By putting on an Occulus Rift VR headset at the gallery, visitors may immerse themselves in the imaginative worlds of artists like never before.

Recreating a 2D painting as a 3D environment involved creating all of the elements of the painting, including the textures and styles unique to each artist in a 360-degree format, making it possible for a person to feel as if they were actually walking into an iconic painting.
