'Vernie' is an Interactive Squid Art Piece Focused on Audio & Sound

Attendees of the 'Walk & Talk Festival' in Azores, Portugal were treated to a giant squid art installation called 'Vernie.' The cute underwater monster was created by a collaboration of Italian and Portuguese architects known as 'Moradavaga.' The artists' installation was inspired by Azores coastal sperm whales, 'Moby Dick' and '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.' The over-sized sea creature was constructed from cable protectors with its tentacles flowing through the park, wrapping around objects. In keeping with the festival name, the giant squid art piece works like a tin-can telephone; curious festival goers can speak into the eyes and tentacles of the animal and hear their echo radiate through the squid.

The sound-transmitting interactive installation made for an enjoyable and fun exhibit that children and adults could both enjoy at the festival.Photo Credits: designboom, moradavaga
