Emoji Protest Signs

Pentagram Delivers Messages Without Words at the People's Climate March

Protest signs can be witty, but wordy and the chants that groups shout out can be sometimes hard to hear if you don't know what the people are protesting for. In order to make the messages more clear and easier to understand, Pentagram developed Earthmoji for the People's Climate March in London.

The colorful protest signs were simplified to three emojis, such as the face of a panda, an hour glass and a skull, bringing awareness to the extinction of the beloved bear species. Other issues communicated through these powerful emoji signs included bicycling, deforestation and recycling. Although the messages may be a little abstract, at least they are attention-grabbing enough to get people to start asking questions on these topics.
