Discommon Designs the Concorde Structure in the Peninsula Hotel

The Peninsula Hotel London is bound to draw attention with its 2,700-pound scale sculptural model that rests inside Brooklands. This is its rooftop dining space and the design draws inspiration from British aviation and motorsport. The Concorde structure is designed by the industrial firm Discommon.

The firm showcases the aerodynamic structure of the Concorde to make a statement as the centerpiece of the hotel's restaurant. Founder of Discommon, Neil Ferrier calls the design project "the world’s most accurate jigsaw puzzle." The silhouette is held together with 400 machined panels that have been specifically customized for the project. It is accompanied by over 3,000 brackets and 8,000 bolts.

Ferrier notes, "This was a hugely complicated feat of design, engineering, problem solving and manufacturing that demanded nothing short of our best. Over the past three years this passion project has presented us with the opportunity to push the boundaries of design and deliver a culmination of creativity, engineering expertise and design intricacy that we are truly proud of. We are honored to present our ode to British aviation in flight at the monumental Peninsula Hotel."
