Right at the heart of London's Hanover Square, there is a new sculpture installation entitled the Peace Head by Yoshitomo Nara. It is cast in bronze and painted in a crisp white hue, as a depiction of the Japanese artist's signature 'big-headed girls.' On the back of the sculpture is a dotted "PEACE" to push the overarching message.
The artist spent much of his youth growing up in a small town that is just north of Tokyo. He understood the world through music and talking about the artist, Yeewan Koon states "For Nara, finding a newly released or hard-to-find recording was part of the excitement of transgressing such geographical boundaries," in the recent Phaidon Nara monograph.
