Colgate's Nonstick Toothpaste Tubes are Made with LiquiGlide

LiquiGlide has officially entered the toothpaste market with Colgate's new nonstick toothpaste tubes. The technology will make every last drop of toothpaste accessible without having to completely flatten or destroy the tube in the process.

LiquiGlide is a company spun out of MIT's Varanasi Research Group that, in 2012, coated the inside of a ketchup bottle to demonstrate the way it helps ease liquids out of their containers with minimal effort. Today, LiquiGlide has teamed up with Colgate to engineer the new recyclable toothpaste tube technology.

The nonstick liquid layer in the tubes can be made from edible food-safe materials. It works by filling in microscopic textures in the container and creates a thin and slippery layer on its surface.
