The Mosaic Chair 02 Takes Material and Inspiration from Surprising Sources

The Mosaic Chair 02 certainly looks like a relaxing place to sit back, despite the fact that it embodies a distinctly chaotic composition of forms and materials. Dreamed up by Benjamin Rollins Caldwell of BRC Designs, this piece of living room furniture would undoubtedly liven up a space.

The inspiration for the frame of the contemporary armchair came from the sharp shapes that make up stained glass windows. The geometric steel structure was finished in black automotive paint and filled with triangular and quadrilateral cuts of half-inch thick tempered glass. The softness of the frosted white panels is felt in the cushions of goose down and their woolly shaggy sheeps' wool upholstery. To match the wackiness of the Mosaic Chair 02's form, the fleece was dyed in a kooky bold red.
