Levitating Senior Citizens

The Angie Hiesl Performance Art Pieces Are High Above The Competition

Surprising passerbys, this Angie Hiesl Performance Art piece suspends senior citizen 20 feet off the ground. The world renowned German artist Angie Hiesl has been creating soaring art since the 1980s. This live art piece entitled 'X-Fois Gens Chaise' or X-Times People Chair is attempting to reinvent familiar locations, taking place anywhere from a train station to above a busy street.

Exploring ideas of floatation, Hiesel attaches a chair to the facade of a building and then has performers between the ages of 60 to 70 sit high above the street. The performers then continue to do banal activities, from knitting to having a snack. Then, once their performance is done, the seniors simply climb down the chair without any acknowledgement of their jaw-dropping stunt.

Performed around the world in an attempt to rearrange our expectations of reality, this surreal Angie Hiesl Performance Art leaves crowds in awe.
