Imposter Cities is a pavilion in Montreal designed to comment on architectural authenticity. The pavilion, wrapped in green screens, celebrates the Canadian cities and buildings that often pose as cinematic doubles. Montreal-based studio TBA is the brainpower behind this project.
Visitors can interact with the installation located at the Venice Architecture Biennale. According to the design team, "the wrap changes the pavilion into an icon visible across the Giardini, in bold contrast to our neighbors... Even at a distance, visitors will instantly identify our theme of architecture and cinema." Imposter Cities is meant to appear under renovation. TBA Studio also offers an interactive Instagram filter called Svela-Finzione, which digitally inserts Canadian buildings in the Pavilion.
