The BIOPHILIA Collection by Ross Lovegrove is Inspired by Architecture

As sleek and sculptural as the seats making up the BIOPHILIA Collection are, they also have an organic aesthetic reminiscent of the architectural feat Sagrada Famila, which was designed by celebrated Spanish Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi. The slim yet curvaceous form of the backrest rises like a spire up to the sky while the seat drapes down seamlessly into its base as though made from a rippling piece of cloth.

Designed by Ross Lovegrove, the BIOPHILIA Collection was created for VONDOM. Although the BIOPHILIA Collection acknowledges this history of design, it also "pushes the boundaries between material structure and form into a new modern territory as yet unseen," as stated by Lovegrove. By doing so, the BIOPHILIA Collection becomes much more appropriate for contemporary tastes while retaining a hold on tradition.
