Zig-Zag Architecture

Herzog & de Meuron Present an Interesting Shape for Astrazeneca

Herzog & de Meuron have put forward designs for Astrazeneca, and its shape is far from average. The building has a zig-zag pattern, proving that a straightforward design is not mandatory when creating an office environment.

The building will be used for a few different purposes, including science-based research for the company. According to DesignBoom, "blocks of transparent laboratories are arranged around a centrally positioned public courtyard, which encompasses the three main entrances to the building." This allows for an agreeable flow throughout the office, allowing people to take breaks when they need to and also briefly see what other employees are working on. Having this sense of transparency is always a good thing when it comes to larger companies who at times can become quite disconnected with each other. Photo Credits: designboom, astrazeneca
