On the Miami waterfront, international architecture firm ArquitectonicaGEO built a stunning tower that is inspired by the shimmering and rippling water below it.
The 500-foot 42-storey tower is built on a pier on the waterfront of Biscayne Bay in the Miami neighborhood of Edgewater. The project is called 'Icon Bay' and contains a small park with whimsical murals and a peaceful swimming pool, also designed by ArquitectonicaGEO. The inventively misaligned balconies "appear to flutter in the wind or respond to the ripples of the bay waters," according to the architects.
ArquitectonicaGEO created the interior of the building too, which is full of airy, geometrically intriguing corridors. The Related Group, the developer behind Icon Bay, actually employs a roster of artists full-time and the building is replete with beautiful original works of art, both inside and out.
According to ArquitectonicaGEO, the building marks the beginning of a new era of architecture in Miami.
