Burch has worked at Harper's Bazaar US, was a copywriter at Polo Ralph Lauren and previously held a job at Vera Wang before starting her own company in 2004. Her line was an immediate success and was endorsed by Oprah Winfrey, which led to Burch skyrocketing to fame.

In 2008, she beat Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors for the Council of Fashion Designers of America title of "accessories designer of the year."
