All-Encompassing Roof Designs

A House in Japan by 'y+M Design Office' Prepares for Precipitation

y+M Design Office has built a house in Japan to accommodate excessive amounts of rainfall throughout the year. Due to where the abode is situated, the architects needed to come up with a design that would reduce strain on gutters and the house overall, which is why the roof slopes to the ground on either side.

The design is called the Rain Shelter House, and other than the all-encompassing metal roof the material used features mostly wood. Although the elements can be a bit unpredictable in this area, the owners at least have a great view sitting at the base of a mountain. Moreover the space inside is extremely spacious, allowing the family to have time to themselves if they so choose to relax for a bit. Photo Credits: designboom, ymdo.net
