In an effort to expand its features for accessibility Google is launching a new feature on its Map app that helps users find wheelchair-accessible routes. The feature is already rolling out in London, New York City, Tokyo, Mexico City, Boston and Sydney, with plans for further expansion to cities all over the world. Google worked closely with local transit authorities to map out wheelchair-accessible routes and will also be enlisting the help of registered 'Local Guides' to add further accessibility information to Google Maps.

Users looking to take advantage of Google Maps wheelchair-accessible routes will simply need to entire their destination, tap 'Directions,' select the public transportation icon, tap 'Options' and then selects 'Wheelchair accessible' from under the Routes section.
