Taylor’s launched VVOP White, the house’s first Very, Very Old White Port, drawn from wines aged for more than 80 years in seasoned oak casks and including components dating back to 1896. The exceptionally rare bottling is presented as a living archive of the Douro Valley, featuring a luminous amber-gold colour and layers of long-matured aromatics.
The blend was assembled by Taylor’s head winemaker and master blender, David Guimaraens, and is presented in a bespoke Vista Alegre crystal decanter with a redesigned case made from certified materials. Tasting notes include dried apricot, almond biscotti, candied orange peel, roasted hazelnut, saffron and vibrant acidity. Availability is extremely limited, with each bottle priced at £580.
For collectors and fine-wine enthusiasts, VVOP White combines rarity, provenance and generational stewardship in a release designed as both a tasting experience and heritage object. The launch reflects growing demand for ultra-aged wines that emphasize historic craftsmanship, limited availability and luxury presentation.
