This Charity Builds the Worth of #OneBigTweet by Raising Followers

Cafedirect Producers' Foundation turned to twitter campaigns to raise money a little bit differently; instead of asking for cash, it asks for a donation of followers in order to grow the monetary value of a single auctioned-off tweet. #OneBigTweet is raising money for tea and coffee farmers in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

The clever and creative campaign is based on the success that Ellen DeGeneres' Oscar selfie tweet had for Samsung by acting as a viral marketing campaign reaching 3.5 million people. The charity asks that you "donate your followers" by allowing the campaign to automatically retweet the #OneBigTweet from your account. The tweet itself is unknown prior to, since the following base is auctioned off to a lucky company to fill the 140 characters. However, it's guaranteed that it will be "safe for your gran to read."

Twitter campaigns are an excellent way to not just raise awareness, but also to raise money -- even if that means by selling the very "awareness" or attention a tweet can provide.
