‘Things Change’ by Jo Peel is a graffiti installation that’ll stop viewers in their tracks. This British street artist created a mural that tells a story most people can relate to. It documents the changing landscape of the natural environment, taken over by human construction and infrastructure. It inevitably evokes the issue of humankind and its relationship with the natural world.
The painting is enacted on a wall of an art space in Shoreditch, London. The mural comprises of illustrations depicting cranes, construction and the landscape transforming into a concrete jungle. The mural is part 3D, with protruding physical objects like plastic bags, rocks and boxes.
The whole project took three weeks to finish, with sequential paintings conducted after Peel captured photographs of each scene. Each scene from Things Change unravels the urban decay of the land.
