A Team Join Forces to Create the Theater of the Arts

Nicolás Norero, Leonardo Quinteros, and Tomás Villalón, a team of architectural minds created the Theater of the Arts of Panguipulli. This is a community theater with a unique design that is defined by the glued laminated timber. It can be found along the lakeside in Chile. The compact design can be described as a 'box within a box' and it functions as an arts education center for kids and the local community.

The team explains to Dezeen, "Towards the lake, a second square with floors, rocks, and water is proposed, welcoming the opening of the stage in the summer and connecting the theater with the outdoors." Continuing about the interior box, the team notes, "[It is] an opaque volume, acoustically and thermally insulated, conceived as an integrated space that eliminates the proscenium, creating a continuous interior that opens up to the lake through a single window spanning its entire width."
