Wishful Art Installations

'The Wish Machine' is an Exhibit at the London Design Biennale

'The Wish Machine' is the Turkish entry at this year's London Design Biennale, which features art installations and design ideas from countries all over the world. This year, the Biennale is commemorating the 500th anniversary of the classic philosophical text 'Utopia' by Sir Thomas More. As such, The Wish Machine plays on the idea of utopian desires.

The interactive installation, which takes place in a room covered with mirrors, is a series of clear, hexagonal pneumatic tubes that surround visitors as they walk through. Eventually, visitors will reach a dead end where they can write a wish on a piece of paper and slip it into a suction-point in one of the tubes, never to see it again.

As visitors walk back through the exhibit, they will realize that they were walking through the infinitely reflected wishes of those who came before them.
