Crude Paper Wire Sculptures

The Flatulent Cow by Polly Verity

The paper-covered wire sculptures by Polly Verity cross lines between fantasy and reality.

The artist has made pieces varying from a life-size cow mounted to the side of a building in Edinburgh, to wire frame shoes and delicate mythical looking creatures measure just 12cm. Verity uses various types of wire and acid-free tissue, with added touches of gold and silver wire and gold leaf.

Her cow was covered with weather-proof fiberglass and rigged to break-wind on the hour and is now a tourist attraction known as Edinburgh's Flatulent Cow.

Verity is also an accomplished artist in folded paper and uses some of her creations as details and bases for her wire work animals.
