Church Congregation-Inspired Structures

The Szolnok Reformed Church by SAGRA is Spiritually Simple

As a response to The Szolnok Reformed Church Congregation House competition for the new design of a new church. Local architecture and design firm SAGRA Architects has built a church congregation hall located in central Hungary in the city of Szolnock. The single story structure is fitted with a rectilinear bell tower that hovers above the white geometrical volume and has the capacity of fitting 30 to 40 people.

The facility is also fitted with a kitchen, an office and spaces for worship and community activities. The exterior structure is also fitted with a canopy like roof for added shelter. "The basis of our concept was to create an open, clear and transparent space that still represents protection," says architect Gábor Sajtos of the project.

While the exterior is white to provide the meaning of innocence and spirituality, the sloped roof and windows are framed with wooden accents to retain a note of simplicity.
