Spire Tracks Breathing to Help People Focus or Relax

The workplace can be a pot of water on the stove just waiting to boil over and Spire, a stress-lowering device, hopes to mitigate those particular situations. It is a piece of wearable tech that tracks people's breathing to figure out just how stressed a person is. By doing so, it can help encourage people to focus or relax, depending on what the stress-lowering device determines.

Designed by San Francisco-based Neema Moraveji, who began developing the product as a PhD student at Stanford University, the stress-lowering device works with an accompanying app. This app visualizes the breath to easily illustrate through a cloud-like circle that grows and shrinks what the wearer's current stress levels are like. About the stress-lowering device, Moraveji says, "I wanted to give people power and awareness over their state of mind."
