Spencer’s Art House is a creative space that welcomes artists, designers, architects and engineers. The house was converted from an abandoned funeral home in Flint, Michigan; but far from looking dreary, this former memorial home is cheerful and upbeat.
The space has been restored using reclaimed materials from construction sites and deserted homes in order to stay cost-efficient and eco-friendly. The first floor will be dedicate to workshops and classes to benefit the community, while the second floor will contain apartments. The project aims to stimulate the improvement of the surrounding community, which has suffered since the waning sustainability of the auto industry.
The project is raising funding via Kickstarter campaign in order to fully stabilize the structure and repair windows. The project has rasied almost $3,000 of it’s $12,000 goal and has a week to go. Photo Credits: designboom, kickstarter
