The Billboard House Lodges the Artist Creating the Mural

A compelling installation can be found in Polanco, Mexico City, that's been aptly named the Billboard House by its creator. Architect Julio Gómez Trevilla was commissioned by Scribe to design an eye-catching campaign that would express itself as a thought-provoking piece of art in a pair of ways.

A large blank canvas was erected on stilts, as was a rectangular enclosure that abuts the back. A steel structure gives the whole setup a sturdy frame while lightweight chipboard clads the interior of the one-room living space. The painter hired to produce the large-scale advertisement would live inside, furnished with the domestic comforts of a bed, a desk, a bathroom and a kitchen. The Scribe Billboard House even includes a terrace with a great view and a playful door and window that punch through the mural.
