Satoshi Kawamoto's botanical art finds its home at the Nordic-Japanese restaurant Sachi. Locating at Pantechnicon, a 200-year-old former warehouse on Motbomb Street in London's Belgravia, diners are greeted with a vibrant plant-filled space.
To mark the opening of the new restaurant, the installation is a celebration of nature. Kawamoto explains that the botanical artwork is meant to "create something that would make visitors want to explore further inside the Pantechnicon." The challenge was to create a soft and welcoming interior in contrast to the building's daunting exterior. To further contrast the space, the artist wanted to bring the unexpected into the restaurant situated in the building's basement by including living elements. The vibrant combination of fresh and dry foliage creates an everchanging atmosphere.
