Folded Door Furnishings

This Reclaimed Door Table was Taken from Its Hinges and Reworked

It might seem like a sculptural representation, but you are actually looking at a reclaimed door table. The artist took an original altbau door of the historical Berlin style, applying a technique of clear cuts to dramatically alter the typical rectangular shape.

The carved paneling of the wood remains aligned as the portal seems to crease at perfect perpendicular angles; the corners point down the floor to serve as feet, in a manner as surrealistic as the work of Dali. Look closely and you'll spot where Yoraco González removed embedded locks and left hinges in these panel doors, reminding the observer that these were not always intended as coffee tables and side tables. Their bright white finishes contribute a crisp look to these abstract creations, called Origami 9010 Doors.
