H. Moser & Cie.'s Pioneer Centre Seconds Sun Berry Has a Purple Fumé Dial

Pioneer Centre Seconds Sun Berry is the latest addition to H. Moser & Cie's sports watch collection. The watch features a Berry Purple fumé dial finished with a sunburst pattern and contrasted by a bright yellow inner flange and matching leaf-shaped hands. Following the brand's Concept design approach, the dial omits logos and hour markers, placing emphasis on color and surface treatment. The watch is housed in a 40mm steel case with a screw-in crown and is paired with a yellow rubber strap secured by a steel pin buckle.

The timepiece is powered by the in-house HMC 201 automatic calibre, a 27-jewel movement operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, the movement incorporates an Original Straumann hairspring, a bi-directional pawl winding system, and partially skeletonized bridges finished with anthracite treatment and Moser double stripes.

Trend Themes

  1. Chromatic Luxury Sport Watches — Vivid fumé dials and contrasting straps are reshaping premium sports watches into expressive lifestyle objects with room for limited color drops and collectible personalization.
  2. Logo-free Watch Design — Minimalist dials that omit branding and markers signal a shift toward material, color, and finishing as the primary identifiers of luxury value.
  3. Transparent Mechanical Storytelling — Visible in-house movements and decorated calibres create differentiation through technical theatre, supporting new forms of provenance, education, and owner engagement.

Industry Implications

  1. Luxury Watches — Independent maisons can use bold aesthetics and proprietary mechanics to compete against heritage incumbents with more distinctive, design-led product identities.
  2. Fashion Accessories — Color-forward straps and expressive cases blur the line between horology and seasonal styling, expanding opportunities for watches as wardrobe-driven accessories.
  3. Advanced Materials — Specialized hairsprings, treated bridges, sapphire displays, and performance rubber components highlight demand for precision materials that combine durability with visual distinction.
